Hebrews 11:26

Day 17 - PROMPT: A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently.
I’m not a big fan of devotional books because, well, many of them are cheesy and/or full of bad theology. But Oswald Chambers’s My Utmost For His Highest is in my opinion the greatest Christian book ever written besides the Bible itself. I appreciate Chambers’s apologetic/theologically defensive tone, his bluntness, and his unwavering attention to giving readers real, practical advice. This book smacks you in the face quite often; it’s not a “feel good” devotional by any means, but every time I read it, I walk away wanting to be a better Christian. And his words often stick with me for days at a time.
I’ve owned the book for years and have gone through it a few different times, but just recently I decided to pick it up and go through it again. There’s a short entry for each day of the year and almost daily (or as often as I read it) I find myself being convicted about my life, beliefs, and Christian practices.
I highly recommend it, but let me warn you: My Utmost For His Highest is not for those who are spritually “faint of heart.” Read at your own discretion.

My God is a God worth serving. No amount of mockery will cause me to stop believing in, honoring, and deeply loving my Father and King.
